Kid’sView is a non-profit organization committed to one purpose only: sharing the world seen through the eyes of kids everywhere, as expressed by their photographs. We focus on the Kid’sView of communities rarely witnessed by most of us.

Welcome to Kid’sView

News
June 7, 2008: We will be at the Houghton ArtsFest selling some of the kids’ photographs to support more cameras for future distribution and to fund a water project in the community of Montero, Bolivia and a nutrition center in El Porvenir, Honduras. Past photographs from kids living in these communities can be found on our website, and we plan to return to those communities this fall to continue working with the kids on these important projects, as well as so they can shoot more photos.

May 14, 2008: We have a couple public showings of Kid’sView photos. In Marquette, Michigan and Seattle, Washington this month and Houghton, Michigan in June. All proceeds will go to support more cameras and development projects in the communities where the kids live.

May 7, 2008: Kid’sView is featured in a front page article “Small Views of a Big World” in Michigan Tech Magazine! Several photos from the kids in Honduras and Bolivia were featured. Because of this article cameras are being sent to Nicaragua from readers in Colorado and to Uganda from readers in North Carolina. We will have even more Kids’ Views to share...

April 9, 2008: Kid’sView is featured in an April 8 article (PDF file) in El Norte, the newspaper from Montero, Bolivia. The article discusses a public showing of the kids’ photos taken in the Montero Kid’sView photo shoot (see Kids’Views link above). A local artist judged the photos and picked the best of each photographer’s work. Additionally, each Kid’sView photographer received their own camera donated from a Montero photo shop so they can continue exploring their interest in photography.

April 4-5, 2008: One of the producers and one of the kid photographers featured in the excellent movie “Born Into Brothels” is visiting Michigan Tech’s campus for a Film Fest. We will be meeting both and talking about kids, cameras, and the power of photography.

March 16, 2008: We just passed the 1000 photo mark! Thanks, kids.

March 15, 2008: We just returned with 10 cameras from Montero, Bolivia. The kids loved the Kid’sView idea so much, they were willing to share their camera with a friend, so we have photos from 15 kids total, in the Pampa de la Madre and Floresta neighborhoods. Cameras were distributed to children being served by Etta Projects (www.ettaprojects.org). Engineers Without Borders will be working with Etta Projects and Rotary International to bring the people living in the Pampa a reliable means to get clean drinking water. The next scheduled Kid’sView shoot will be in the Pampa in August.
